Winding down..

So much to say!  We have had a wonderful last couple of days. The last time I wrote I was getting ready to sleep after a long day at Lego Land. A lot of things have happened since then!

We had a wonderful day with Esben and Jenny the next day in Arhus. Den Gamle By was beautiful and very cool. It is crazy to think that they take apart old houses and put them back up in the middle of a modern town. It was weird to look over this OLD town and see a high rise building. Next we went to the Rainbow museum. I was fascinated with the fact that you'd stand in one color and look out of the crack and see the town in blue or green. It was cool to see how quickly your eyes adjust to color!  Later that night we went home to prepare for a huge midsummer's night party. The food and company were both truly amazing.

The next morning came too quickly and we had to make the ferry back to Copenhagen. The ride was fun with the girls, we ate a lot and giggled a lot. We also enjoyed looking at the jellyfish in the ocean as we were getting into Copenhagen.

Once we got into town we met with Boje and went to see the Little Mermaid. We took lots and lots of pictures and then headed to the Carlsberg elephants! It was a great ending to the day. We were so tired so we turned in early and got a GREAT nights sleep.

Yesterday we went to see the REAL Copenhagen with Thomas and his crew. We walked through the "Redlight District" and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the mall! We had AMAZING burgers at a cute cafe and then headed back home for an even GREATER night of sleep plus a LOT of laundry!

This morning Mary and I woke up early and went to a store to buy some bread for breakfast! We enjoyed some nice bread and butter with Nutella. We also splurged and bought us each a croissant. What a wonderful Fransk, Danish meal we had! Afterwards, Robert came to pick us up and we headed to go sailing. It was awesome! I loved being on the ocean. Sailing is such a neat thing to get to experience. I am very glad that the weather was nice and we got to actually do it!

It's been a long, but relaxing couple of days. I think it's good, because the trip is winding down. We're looking forward to a fun day of nostalgia with Aunt Hanne tomorrow. Can't wait to see what's in store for us..

Until next time...

Back in the big city!

6/25/11

Where did I leave off? I think I’m up to our trip to Legoland… everything seems to be blending together due to lack of sleep and very full days. Still, we’re having an amazing time!

We all loved Legoland! The rides were not as much fun as the ones at Tivoli, but the lego creations were unbelievable! They had just opened a new Star Wars section that had scenes from almost every movie built totally out of legos complete with moving parts! It was so much fun! One of the best parts of the outing though was getting to spend time with our cousin Magnus and his beautiful 4 year old Luna. She was so sweet and quiet, when she rode the merry-go-round she waved at us like a little princess! Adorableness must run in the family ;)

After a full day at Legoland we got to meet David and his wife for dinner along with their 15 day old baby girl Sofia. She was absolutely perfect!!! There was a ten minute period at the table when we all silently watched her sleep and coo in her mother’s arms… I’m so glad I got to meet them all! After dinner we drove to Esben’s “chalet” in his awesome little garden community… We had such a great time there! He and his “preggo” lady Jenny took us to see Den Gamle By and an amazing new art exhibit called “Your Rainbow Panorama” which was quite an experience!

That night we celebrated Midsummer’s Night with them which was a nice, relaxing break from the hustle we’ve been putting ourselves through so far. The girls got tired early and went to rest in the house while Sarah and I were able to enjoy a couple Danish beers and fun conversation with our cousin and his friends. In short, our trip to Jylland was wonderful!

…But we were excited to take the ferry back to Copenhagen to meet up with Boje and Marianne again. After a long day of sailing and driving, Boje took us out to see the Little Mermaid statue and the Carlsberg elephants. We were so excited to fit in those attractions but were even more excited by the wonderful pork dinner and baked dessert that Marianne had waiting for us at the apartment! Boje gave us a tour of the apartment and they were off leaving us to have a much needed full night of rest. J

Today Thomas and his family took us to a lovely brunch and then on a walk through his work place and on to the mall. We had a nice time shopping and seeing the incredible athletics center that Thomas works at (we even got some free loot from the project he’s been working on recentlyJ)! Then Thomas and Lukas accompanied us to an amazing cafĂ© where we ate some delicious burgers before walking home and calling it an early night.

…Unfortunately, Sarah and I are still up 4 hours later trying to complete all of the laundry 4 girls can go through in almost 2 weeks. But we’ve pretty much wrapped it up now, so we’re taking hot baths and climbing in bed to prepare for our boat tour with Robert in the morning!

Legos on my mind...

June 24, 2011

To tell the truth, I don’t really want to write my blog right now. I was playing with Legos and having too much fun.

Midsummer’s night was a little scary for me. Being surrounded by people who ranged from tipsy to all out drunk was straying from my comfort zone a little too far. I felt much better once I was in the house, but the marshmallow I was called out to roast was pretty tasty.

The ferry ride was so fun. A quarter of the time I was reading. Another quarter I was looking at the water. The rest of the time I was playing telephone Pictionary with the other girls. There were so many things that made me laugh.

I think I might go back to my Legos now.

Jylland

June 24, 2011

Today we went back to Copenhagen from jutland. While we were there we slept at Esben and Jenny’s house(who were very nice and generous). We had lots of fun on mid summers night and ate lots of marshmellows. The best thing was the fresh made bread that Esben made, it tasted really good. We went to a cool museums and went to Den Gamle By and got some really tasty treats from the 17th century. So, I really had a great time and have lots of memories that I can always remember and share with my children!

Sleepy Adventures

June 22, 2011

There is so much to say about the last couple of days that we’ve spent here in Denmark.  There have been fun times, some sad times, and even scary times.

For starters, we haven’t really gotten much sleep..so this is why it’s been taking so long to post our blogs!
I think I ended my last blog the night before our wonderful day at Tivoli.

The day really did turn out to be wonderful! Tore’s boys are so cute and a lot of fun to be around. The day was full of great rides, food, and family! As Mary said earlier, there was a bit of a road block with the car being robbed. I’ve never had an experience quite like that.  Luckily the next morning Boje went with me to the police station to file the police report and to the Toyota to mend the lack of window for our long drive to Jylland!

Now we’re here in Jylland! It is fantastic. The first day we got into town we went to Mille’s cute little village called Vrads.  As Mary described, it was very quaint. We loved it. She is so talented too! She does pottery and ALL of her stuff is just beautiful! I wanted to buy it all, but only got Mary the cutest necklace.
This morning we went to Magnus’s house to eat breakfast! It was so delicious and his house was beautiful. His kids are also gorgeous. He and Luna, their 4 year old girl, accompanied us on our Lego Land adventure today. We had a wonderful time together and were quite sad to leave.

The day wasn’t over after Lego Land, we drove to David’s house afterwards and got to meet their newborn baby, Sofia! She is 15 days old. ADORABLE. I don’t know how else to describe her.. I couldn’t stop looking at her.

Now we’re at Esben’s “Chalet” enjoying great company and will be off to bed shortly. We have a long day ahead of us in Arhus! I am so excited to see what he has planned for us.

Until next time…

6/22/11

Hey you guys! Well I have been doing things all the time this week and have plenty of things to say. First, we went to Tivoli with Tore, Carl, and Jonathan we had a great time…..until our car got broken into :P. The next day we went to the round tower with Boje and ate some really bad mint ice cream. Second, we went on a 4 hour drive to Mille’s house, Which wasn’t too bad because we went to Hans Christian Andersen’s house for a while(and ate at a really good Dansk McDonalds). Third, we arrived at Mille’s house and we went to a lake that was really cold but also very pretty, Emily swam though(she was used to cold water). Fourth, we went to Legoland and had lots of fun with Luna(who was very cute by the way)and I got some Lego presents for Ira and Jona. So, we had a very fun 4 days (sorry that I haven’t gotten to my blog)and we got to do some things that were awesome and cool.
